Wendy Benjamin Managing Partner of Appleby’s Jersey office and Group Head of the Corporate department in Jersey with managerial responsibilities for the Guernsey office. She specialises in banking, corporate and commercial law, and has an excellent reputation in intellectual property, IT and data protection.

As well as working regularly with top tier UK and US law firms on cross-border transactions, and restructuring and insolvency work, Wendy’s client base encompasses significant, financial institutions, public bodies, international and local companies across the three Crown Dependencies of Guernsey, Isle of Man and Jersey.

Wendy has been recognised by Chambers UK from 2012 to 2017 as a ´Notable Practitioner´ and ´Leader in her Field.´ She demonstrates considerable strength on banking regulatory work. Interviewees highlight her “ability to explain the detailed and complex in a way that is very comprehensible to those not involved in the corporate world.” Wendy has also been praised for her “coordination and attention to detail.” She was also described as being “commercially astute and hardworking.” Clients have said that she “makes sure everybody is working towards the same agenda. She is extremely focused, very thorough and technically strong.”

IFLR 1000 2016 recommended Wendy as a ´Leading Lawyer´.

She is also recommended for banking and finance by Legal 500 UK 2016 and leading a team that is “responsive and well versed in the intricacies of international finance transactions”. Recognised as a ´Leading Individual´ by the same directory, she has been commended for her ability to “understand the need to find balanced solutions that are workable in practice”. As an individual Wendy’s work was described as “fantastic” and “thorough and commercially focused.” Wendy´s team has also been praised as “always responsive and knowledgeable.”

She qualified as an English Solicitor in 1990, and requalified as a Jersey Advocate in 2002. She became a partner in 2003. Prior to her move to the Channel Islands, Wendy was the Legal Adviser to the Registrar of Companies for England and Wales between 1995 and 1999. Before this she was a partner with Eversheds where she trained and qualified.

Wendy is a member of the Bank Resolution Steering Committee, the Jersey Companies Registry User Group and Jersey Law Society. She was previously the Legal Adviser to the Jersey Chamber of Commerce.
